Art Journaling

My latest obsession is drawing and painting. I blame my sister for this. She talked me into buying an adult coloring book. After coloring a few patterns, I wanted to color my own creations.

I love to play with colors. I am learning to work with acrylics, watercolor, charcoal, inks, colored pencils, markers, stencils, stamps, collage (have you seen the fancy schmancy papers available at art stores!), and more.

I’m still cooking and baking, but not as often as I used to. The young adults moved away, and it’s just my husband, myself, and our little dog Giovanni.

Gypsy woman mixed media. I created this gypsy woman in a class taught by Effy Wild. Ms Wild has an interesting style. There are several layers on this piece. The textures are amazing.

ABOVE: Mixed media whimsical girl.  It’s fun to create as I go, and discover what my girl or woman will look like.  I gesso-ed a cracker box, added collage, then painted her with acrylics, and used a white charcoal.

ABOVE: Storybook girl. My own creation. I used an antique book I have had lying around for years. I like the idea of keeping my book and adding storybook girls.
