I’m still working on this one
It’s a cold, damp Seattle winter morning. I’m tucked away in my little condo eating a bowl of cranberry walnut oatmeal along with a slice of toasted Dakota bread. I can hear the splashes and hums of the cars heading into the city as they exit the ferry terminal after their float across the Sound. I love this little town.
It’s Monday, and my husband is forty stories high in the Seattle sky with unbeatable views of the city and the beautiful Puget Sound.
On days like today I need to get a walk in, but when my aching joints can’t take the rain and cold, I stay in and exercise to a good online Youtube videos. This is one I like to use to get my heart pumping. If you do it two times in a row, it’s even better.
Yesterday, Ern and I rode the ferry ourselves. We headed to Pouslbo for lunch and a bit of shopping. It’s the one day we have to spend together, and we like to get out and explore. Ern found a great little spot for lunch: Tizley’s Europub. They serve amazing German fare and he and I are schnitzel fanatics. The pork schnitzel and German potato salad were the best I’ve had! I sipped an Irish coffee and the dude drank a ginger beer. The environment is local pub-like- not fancy. The servings are huge.
After lunch we strolled down the main street and visited art galleries- our favorite was the Carrie Goller Gallery. Carrie Goller’s work happened to be my favorite. Apparently, I’m not the only one who loves her work!
We also shopped at some antiques shops, where I found a little vintage Native American Kewpie doll. The doll, although politically incorrect, reminds me of the little dolls I used to see at souvenir shops while traveling through the southwest- it’s nostalgic. He’s missing his attire, but for $2.50, I didn’t really care.
I’ve been cooking up a storm lately. I will be posting some of the new recipes I’ve tried and love. Before Thanksgiving of lsat year, we purchased the Breville Smart Air Oven and LOVE the air fryer on it. Nothing like fried food without all of the fat. I can’t believe how good fried chicken on the bone turned out. I wish I had known about air fryers long ago. I practically never use my regular oven anymore. Here are a few things I’ve cooked:
Most of the time I create art. I’m learning and I’m having fun. Here is my latest painting. I’m still working on her. She is inspired from a lesson I am taking online from Faded West. I hope to create three more girls like her (after I finish this one) and get a handle on the techniques. I’m using watercolor crayon, pastel, acrylic, ink and Gesso.
See? I really haven’t fallen off the face of the Earth 🙂
